How to transfer PS1 saves from PS1 to PC

The following is the method I use to transfer my PS1 saves over to my PC.

1. Start ps2 and boot into Ulaunch

2. From uLaunch select filebrowser.

3. Select the location where your memory card saves are stored.

4. Select the save file you wish to transfer over.

5. Select the destination to transfer to, In this example i'll be transfering to a USB drive.

6. Press the R1 button and select paste to paste to the destination location .

Due to illegal filename characters some save files wont be recognised by windows when you try to transfer them to you're PC, instead you will recieve a dialogue box informing you that windows cannot read from the source fie or disk.

In order to get around this limitation the files must be renamed in ulaunch, this can be done by pressing square when paste is selected as shown in the next two images.

Rename the file by deleting only the illegal characters and replacing them with the extension .thxwindows, this will cause PSXRC to prompt you to enter the original "correct" name for the save file.

You should now be able to store all you're save files on your computer and will be able to convert them into various other formats if you wish. A guide for converting into the .MCR format as used by ePSXe can be found here.
